Whys of Worship

​Why Do we worship our God?

​

​Scripture says, “Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God and Him alone shalt thou serve.” (Matthew 4:10b)

Why should we worship our God?

 

Scripture says, “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth for the Father seeketh such as worship Him.  God is a Spirit; and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.”  (John 4:23, 24)

Why do we sing as we do?

 

Scripture says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” (Colossians 3:16)

“And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.”  (Ephesians 5:18, 19)

Why do we lift our hands?

​

Scripture says, “Thus will I bless Thee while I live; I will lift up my hands in Thy name.”  (Psalm 63:4)


“I will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.” (1 Timothy 2:8)

Why do we praise the Lord Audibly?​

​

Scripture says, “Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.  Serve the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs.”  (Psalm 100:1, 2)

​

“By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name.” (Hebrews 13:15)

Why do we sing as we do?

Why Do we receive tithes and offerings?

​

Scripture says, “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith saith the Lord of Hosts if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out such a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”  (Malachi 3:10)

“Give and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give unto your bosom. For with the same measure that you meet withal it shall be measured unto you again.” (Luke 6:38)

​

“Every man shall give as he is able according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which He hath given thee.”  (Deuteronomy 16:17)
